Seminars for World Ozone Day 2025 Organized at Lahore and Peshawar

The National Ozone Unit (NOU), Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC), through its Institutional Strengthening (IS) component with UNDP, organized 02 seminars under the World Ozone Day 2025 campaign at Lahore and Peshawar. The first event was held on 27^th May 2025 in collaboration with Lahore College of Women University (LCWU), Lahore, and the second event was held on 29^th May 2025 in collaboration with University of Peshawar. The seminars deliberated on World Ozone Day -2025 theme i.e. 40 years of the Vienna Convention — from Science to Global Action.

The events consisted of remarks from distinguished guests. Technical discussions covered ODS, the Kigali Amendment, ozone layer protection, and four decades of international cooperation under the Vienna Convention. Student engagement activities including a quiz competition, poster competition, and documentary screening were also held, with winners duly recognized. Participants across both events unanimously acknowledged the Montreal Protocol as a landmark global environmental success and called for continued collaboration among government, academia, and national and international partners. The seminars concluded with a collective pledge to advance science into action for the benefit of future generations, reflecting Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the ozone layer and driving inclusive climate action.
